What is Liaison Interpreting?

Liaison interpreting

Liaison interpreting is similar to consecutive interpreting. The main difference is that the length of time spent speaking is much shorter than in consecutive interpreting.

Liaison interpreting is an oral translation of a statement provided for a single person or a small group of people. During this type of interpretation there is no need to use specialised equipment. Usually the interpreter is sitting next to the person providing the speech and because of short passages he is able to carefully and in detail convey without the necessity of using notes.

Unlike consecutive interpreting, the speaker during liaison interpreting uses short phrases or sentences. This means that he must take breaks long enough for TRANSLIT’s interpreters to provide translation in targeted language without notes and without the risk of omitting any details or distorting the meaning of the primary information.
